Indo Nepal Holidays started Overland Tour in 1992 using Kodari – Zangmu border to enter Tibet China. There was no good roads that time and after Nyalam while going towards West there was not even any road marks we use Compass to find a route. There was hundreds of kilometer plains surrounded by snow capped mountain passing through Lake Peiku Tso was very scenic as on our right side we have Lake Peiku Tso and on left we have beautiful Mountain Range Xixa Pangma.
After 1993 Chinese authorities have started given permission of Indian Pilgrim Groups from Lhasa. Difference was instead of Kodari we use to fly to Lhasa and from there we get at least pitched motor-able roads till Dharchen. From Lhasa to Shigatse then Shigatse to Saga, then Saga to Mansarovar so daily we have to go for 8 to 10 Hours Long Drive which make tour little tiring.
Yes, we get chance to visit Lhasa and enjoy ancient monuments and wonder of world Potala Palace.
The ideal time to undertake this journey is from middle of May till the end of end Sep. Normally, the weather during this period will be stable in high mountain region with less rainfall & cloud.
