Indo Nepal Holidays introduced a more comfortable and shorter route for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in 1994, with an innovative approach that has since gained widespread acclaim. This was a joint venture with Nepal’s Asian Airlines, utilizing their MI17 helicopters to fly from Nepalgunj to Hilsa, which is just a 1-hour drive from the Tibet border at Purang (Taklakot).

This pioneering tour made a huge impact on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, establishing Indo Nepal Holidays as the #LEADERS IN NEPAL TOURS and #PIONEERS IN KAILASH MANSAROVAR YATRAS#. The use of MI17 helicopters made the journey much more comfortable, shorter, and safer, allowing even senior citizens to travel easily. Although there was no proper airport or helipad at the time, the growing popularity of the route led to more local job opportunities, and the Nepalese government eventually developed a small airport in Simikot and a helipad at Hilsa.

The helicopter route remains highly recommended due to its safety, comfort, and ease. You can start the tour from Kathmandu, combining it with a visit to Pashupati Darshan, or, for those with limited time, you can also opt for the route via Lucknow. The trip typically lasts 11 days from Kathmandu, but traveling via Lucknow can shorten it by 2 days.

The ideal time to undertake this journey is between mid-May and the end of June, or from mid-August to the end of September. During these periods, the weather is generally stable in the high mountain regions of western Nepal, with less rainfall and fewer clouds.

In the early morning, you will be transferred to the airport, which is just a 10-minute drive from your hotel, for your flight to Simikot. Many Says We do not get proper acclimatization in helicopter route is it true?
The helicopter route is the safest and most convenient way for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. If you take the overland route, you need to stay in Gyirong for acclimatization, and then it takes two more days to reach Mansarovar, passing through several mountain passes along the way.

If you travel via the Lhasa route, you stay in Lhasa for acclimatization, and then it takes at least three more days to reach Mansarovar, also crossing many mountain passes.

However, when you travel by helicopter, you stay in Taklakot for acclimatization. After that, you can reach Mansarovar in just one hour.

Think of acclimatization like taking an energy medicine. When you take the medicine, it takes time for the effect to kick in. But when you travel by helicopter, you get acclimatized in Taklakot, and within just an hour, you reach Mansarovar, fully energized and ready to go!
If we do not want to go for Kailash Parikrama trek can we short tour ?
If you choose not to go for the Parikrama trek, you will stay at a hotel in Darchen. Since you're traveling on a group visa in Tibet, the entire group must cross the border together. If you wish to shorten your program, there will be additional costs for:

Extra transportation to the border, which must be arranged with the driver and guide.
Splitting your name from the group visa at the immigration office, which costs about RMB 400 per person.
Other penalties imposed by Chinese authorities, which are approximately US$ 100 per day.
